Tuition fees

The government determines the amount of statutory tuition fee to be paid per year. This height is the same for all educational institutions. The institutional tuition fee is never lower than the statutory tuition fee. The amount of institutional tuition fee to be paid may vary per educational institution and per study programme.

Depending on your personal situation, you pay either the statutory tuition fee or institutional tuition fees. 
Factors like your nationality, any residence permit or previously obtained degree you may have determine what rate you pay.

2. Fill in your payment details, confirm and log out.
3. Go to your to-do list in Studielink and click on "Confirm your digital permission"

Before the start of the academic year, you must enter your payment details when you register in Studielink . Once you have issued and confirmed your authorisation, it is no longer possible to change the payment details and your data will be registered in our system for the entire academic year.

During the academic year you can no longer change from one-time direct debit to direct debit in installments or vice versa. If you would still like to change something in your payment details during the academic year, you can send an e-mail to [email protected].

If you have chosen to transfer the tuition fee yourself, you can arrange a bank transfer. In this case, you have to pay the entire amount at once. The tuition fees must be credited to the bank account of Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen before 1 September. When making the transfer, you must state your student number and/or name and date of birth. Transfer the tuition fee in its entirety to:

ATTENTION!! If you choose this option, you must indicate in Studielink how you are going to pay. If you do not indicate the payment method, you have not fully fulfilled your payment obligation!! In Studielink, choose "payment by other means".

To have the tuition fees automatically collected from your account, you must issue a digital authorisation. To issue a digital authorisation, you must be resident in the Netherlands or one of the other SEPA countries.

• In the payment module of Studielink you indicate that you want to pay via the digital authorisation.
• You can then choose authorisation in one instalment or in several instalments and you will receive further instructions on how to fill in and confirm the digital authorisation. With an authorisation for payment in several instalments, € 24 administration costs will be charged annually.
• Make sure you have sufficient funds in your account on the collection dates (note: no savings or blocked account) from which the tuition fee is collected, otherwise the tuition fee will not be debited!
• If the instalment amount cannot be collected, you will receive a reminder. The outstanding instalment will no longer be collected automatically, so you must ensure that the amount is paid within a set period.
• If it appears that at any time the amount has not been paid after a reminder / notice of default, it may be decided that your registration will be terminated. Furthermore, we are forced to transfer the claim to a collection agency. The associated costs are entirely for your account.
• If you have been deregistered and you have not paid all or part of the tuition fee; a new application for registration will only be processed after all outstanding amounts of the tuition fee (including all costs and agreed payment arrangements) have been paid in full. It is therefore important to keep an eye on the date of the collection and to make sure the bank balance is sufficient.
• In the interim, the authorisation cannot be revoked by the account holder.
• Please note: If it turns out that the tuition fee has not been paid, or cannot be collected, you are not enrolled. If, in spite of this, you have made use of educational or examination facilities, you owe compensation equal to the applicable amount of tuition fee. 

You can choose to have the tuition fee collected in one (1) or in six (6) instalments.

If you have chosen to pay in instalments (6 instalments) take note of the due dates in the table below. As you can see, we have taken the payment dates of your student loan into account. 

Does someone else (for example, your parents or employer) pay your tuition fee?

1. After the payment choice in Studielink ('Digital authorisation' or 'Payment by other means') you will receive a payment confirmation link by e-mail.
2. You send this e-mail to the person who will pay your fee,  who can then fill in their own payment details.
3. In the case of a digital authorisation, the person who pays can also receive a copy of the authorisation issued via e-mail.

ATTENTION!! If you choose this option, you must indicate in Studielink how you are going to pay. If you do not indicate the payment method, you have not fully fulfilled your payment obligation!! In Studielink, choose "payment by other means".

If someone else (for example your parents or employer) pays your tuition fee, you will receive a payment confirmation link by e-mail after the payment choice in Studielink ('Digital authorisation' or 'Payment by other means'). Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen does not issue invoices relating to the payment of tuition fees to employers. You have to confirm the digital authorisation in Studielink yourself, with your own account number.

• If you do not want to use digital authorisation, you can transfer the amount yourself by bank transfer.
• After you have confirmed the digital authorisation or transferred the payment yourself, you can request proof of paid tuition fees from the Student Administration by filling in this contact form.
• You can then hand this over to your employer. It is up to your employer whether they agree to this and transfer the sum to the Hanze University of Applied Sciences before 1 September.
• If the tuition fee has not been transferred to the Hanze University of Applied Sciences, you are responsible for the payment of the tuition fee and it will then be collected from the account number you have entered in Studielink.

ATTENTION!! If you choose this option,  you must indicate in Studielink how you are going to pay. If you do not indicate the payment method, you have not fully fulfilled your payment obligation!! In Studielink, choose "payment by other means".

Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen does not issue invoices relating to the payment of tuition fees. After you have issued and confirmed a digital authorisation with your payment details in Studielink, you can request proof of paid tuition fees from Student Administration. This also applies if you have indicated that you want to pay yourself: after payment you can request proof of paid tuition fees. You can request proof via this contact form.

• You will receive payment reminders if you have not paid the tuition fee (on time).
• If it turns out that the amount has not been paid after a notice of default, your registration is at risk.
• If you do not proceed to pay, your registration will be terminated and we will be forced to transfer the claim to a collection agency. The associated costs are entirely for your account.
• If you have been deregistered and you have not paid the tuition fees or part of it, a new application for registration will not be processed immediately. This will only happen when all outstanding amounts of tuition fee, all costs and the agreed payment arrangements have been paid in full.

Are you in arrears with payment of your tuition fees due to force majeure or special circumstances? Contact both the dean and the debiteurenadministratie. Timely intervention prevents collection costs and, in the worst case, deregistration.
